A father, a daughter, and 30 years of AutoCAD
We are CompanionBits: a father and daughter, an architect and a software engineer.
It started at the kitchen table. While other families planned holidays, we tested CAD plugins together in our home office. Maya was still a child back then, but she was already helping hunt down what went wrong. Those evenings left their mark: the conviction that good software should never get in your way.
CompanionBits took its first real shape as Maya's bachelor's project at UCLL — awarded 19/20 — and grew from there into the suite you see today. Michael brings over 30 years of AutoCAD experience and knows every frustration of the trade from the inside. Maya turns that knowledge into code. One of us knows exactly where an architect gets stuck; the other knows how to fix it.
Our rule is simple: a tool is finished when it works the way it should. No manual, no learning curve, no hassle. A small mistake in a drawing can take hours to undo — so we build software that prevents those mistakes instead of causing them.
Everything is developed in Belgium, by the two of us. You design, calculate and draw. We make sure the software stays out of your way.
You draw. We keep the software out of your way.
